There is no exact science that can explain this combination, no theory that makes it possible for us to pre-establish and operate according to intentionality. We must proceed blindly, experimenting and acting in the search for the conduits that can connect us. Photography may be able to map once-in-a-lifetime encounters, but it is in the body, in our progress, in our movement, that we must be able to position ourselves in order to make the right encounters.
As when you try to remember a dream- at first so rich and colorful, then confused and opaque- so these images chase Nicole’s memory as if to intercept a bond. Before turning opaque and losing consistency, her images double and triple, tracing common and recurring elements, crystallizing in a new photographic reality in threes. The idea that is formed as a result of these impressions “lowers” itself into a faded image of those sensations that are perfect and complete in themselves, but temporary and too immediate to be merely remembered.
